HorsePOWER Work-Based Learning

HorsePOWER Work-Based Learning is a program for teens and adults with disabilities that provides a safe and educational environment for people to learn a variety of job skills to prepare for employment. We partner with universities, residential care facilities and day programs.

The HorsePOWER Work-Based Learning Program provides young adults with disabilities the opportunity to develop meaningful job skills in a safe and supportive environment. Offered each semester in the spring, fall, and winter, this innovative program is designed to equip participants with the tools they need to gain independence, build confidence, and prepare for successful employment.

Through hands-on learning experiences in areas such as administrative tasks, custodial work, and equine care, participants gain practical skills while fostering teamwork, responsibility, and a strong work ethic. The program serves individuals of varying abilities, helping them achieve their potential and empowering them to thrive both personally and professionally.

Visits must be supervised by the referring organization and participants must be 16 years of age or older. Groups may visit weekly or monthly. All participants are required to complete a Participant Information Form for Unmounted Observation and/or Equine Interaction prior to the visit. Program participants earn credit each time they come to the farm to be able to participate in an Unbridled Horsemanship or Adaptive Horseback Riding lesson.
